The Dougherty County Tax Payers Association helps local residents understand their property assessments, participate in government, share information, and make their voices heard.
Our history
The Dougherty County Tax Payers Association was originally formed in 2007 by Richard Thomas and other concerned citizens to give taxpayers a stronger voice in matters affecting property owners and the community. In 2026, after sharp increases in property tax assessments renewed concerns across Dougherty County, Burton Newcomb and other concerned citizens came together to reactivate the association, organize local taxpayers, share information, and press for fair treatment and accountable government.
Today, the association continues that mission by giving residents a practical place to get understandable information, learn how to use public processes, stay informed about meetings and deadlines, and work together for fair treatment and accountable local government.
